MVCSD holds i-Ready webinar for families of K-8 students
Parents logged in for a Zoom webinar to learn more about the i-Ready for Families Report from Mount Vernon City School District administrators and an i-Ready specialist on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
The webinar began with a presentation from Ashley Tarr, a senior facilitator for the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center (LHRIC). She explained how to understand results from the For Families Report and ways to support students in their learning at home with i-Ready.
i-Ready is used as a tool by teachers to assess their students’ learning, and Ms. Tarr discussed how to effectively utilize it at home, how to monitor student progress and how to understand the results. As students successfully complete their lessons, the questions will become harder as they progress through grade levels.
After the presentation, parents engaged in a questions and answers session with Dr. Jamal Doggett, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Administration; Dr. Satish Jagnandan, Director of Assessment, Mathematics and Science; and Marybeth Rhodes, Director of Humanities. Parents asked questions to gain an understanding of the i-Ready platform and how they can help their students succeed while using it.
Administrators answered questions and explained their expectations for i-Ready use. The District asks students to spend about 45 minutes per week in each subject – math and reading.
