From the Principal

REBECCA A. JONES

Principal Rebecca Jones

Rebecca Jones is a life-long educator who began as an English Teacher at Nelson Mandela High School in the Mount Vernon City School District upon her graduation from Stony Brook University in 1988. It was at Nelson Mandela, an alternative program designed to meet the needs of at-risk youth, where she knew she had truly found her calling as a teacher.

After completing her Master of Arts in English from Lehman College, she went on to receive her Master of Science in School Administration from the College of New Rochelle, and later became an Assistant Principal at A. B. Davis Middle School, Mount Vernon High School, and Thornton High School.

In the fall of 2010, Rebecca Jones was honored to become the Principal of Lincoln Elementary School, a Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School, where she proudly works alongside an exceptionally talented faculty and staff and a richly diverse student body. Under her leadership, in the Spring of 2019, Lincoln School was again recognized by the New York Department of Education as a Recognition School for the promising academic performance of its students.

Rebecca Jones holds the fundamental belief that every child has a profound desire to learn and a tremendous capacity to achieve, especially when they are afforded an educational experience that embraces their unique cultural identities, recognizes their intellectual greatness, and readies them for success in a highly competitive society.
